Embalming

Embalmers replace blood with embalming fluid to preserve tissue, in accordance with state law. They also reconstruct bodies with clay, cotton, plaster, or wax, apply cosmetics, dress bodies, and place them in caskets.

Funeral Direction

Funeral directors and their assistants handle nearly every aspect of a funeral. They meet with family members to plan a service, handle logistics of transporting and disposing of remains, and often performing embalming as well. Funeral directors also write obituaries, handle advertising and financial matters, and counsel families.
